Dr Jassan Dannaway will discuss the following topic: Diagnosing and Treating Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Carpal tunnel is a common condition affecting the wrist and hand. As a general practitioner, understanding the assessment methods and treatment options for carpal tunnel is essential in providing effective care for patients experiencing pain and functional limitations.
Key Points of the discussion will include:
- Clinical assessment and Imaging: Dr. Dannaway will provide General Practitioners with the means to identify patients with high likelihood of carpal tunnel without ordering unnecessary tests at the expense of medicare and patients without needing to be a hand surgeon themselves.
- Treatment strategies:
i) Conservative Management: Treatment options will be discussed including activity modification, bracing and hand therapy.
ii) Surgical techniques will be discussed including endoscoping techniques
