MEET THE PRESENTERS

Professor Randy Bindra 
ORTHOPAEDIC SURGEON

 Professor Bindra is an Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in surgery of the hand, wrist and peripheral nerve for all age groups, including paediatrics.

Professor Bindra is internationally recognised as a leader in hand and wrist injuries. He treats wrist fractures from falls, work related injuries and multiple fracture injuries from severe trauma. He also performs corrective surgery for fractures that have not healed optimally. Professor Bindra offers keyhole surgery for early arthritis and joint replacement surgery for advanced cases. He treats nerve disorders such as carpal and cubital tunnel syndrome as well as microsurgery for nerve repair and poor circulation of the hand. He has extensive experience replanting amputated digits following trauma.

Professor Bindra treats a variety of childhood problems present at birth or developing with growth. He particularly enjoys restoring function in children with cerebral palsy using Botox injections and surgery if needed. Professor Bindra has extensive experience with Collagenase injections for treating Dupuytren’s contracture both in the USA and Australia and has pioneered its use on the Gold Coast.

Professor Bindra works closely with a team of hand therapists to provide comprehensive care and rehabilitation of his patients. Professor Bindra consults from his rooms at WiSE twice a week- call reception to make your appointment.

The key focus and learning points for this evening will include:

 

1. Perform assessment of the injured hand and wrist
2. Triage injuries that require urgent specialist referral
3. Identify most appropriate imaging modality
4. Discuss management of simple metacarpal and phalangeal fractures
5. Explain characteristics of fractures that may indicate undiagnosed osteoporosis

Doctor Yana Saranchova
GENERAL & COSMETIC DENTIST

Dr. Saranchova is a dedicated General and Cosmetic Dentist. Dr. Saranchova pursued her undergraduate degree in Science from Simon Fraser University, Canada and earned her Master of Dentistry degree from Griffith University, Australia.

Dr. Saranchova makes every effort to stay on top of current developments in dentistry. To that end, she maintains the highest levels of accreditation and takes advantage of ongoing education in both general and cosmetic dentistry. 

Dr. Saranchova's scope of dental expertise is in veneer, crown, oral surgery and root canal treatments. She also has special interests in botox and dermal filler injections that can be done as an adjunct to dental treatment.

Dr. Saranchova is a huge advocate for teaching children best practices of taking care of their teeth through proper oral hygiene that will serve them a lifetime. That is why she even wrote a children's book on oral hygiene that is sold worldwide called "It's Time To Brush My Teeth."

Dr Michael Phegan
ORTHOPAEDIC SURGEON

Dr Phegan completed his orthopaedic training in Queensland, attaining his FRACS in 2021. He then completed a twelve month fellowship in Sydney under prominent foot and ankle surgeon Dr Andrew Wines.

Dr Phegan is trained in all areas of foot and ankle surgery including sports injury, minimally invasive techniques and total ankle replacement.

He currently holds a full time role within the public sector practicing out of the Gold Coast University and Robina campuses. He has recently commenced work in the private sector and is happy to see any patient suffering from issues affecting the foot or ankle.

The key focus and learning points for this evening will include:
