TOPIC: SPORTS INJURIES
Presented by Dr Mustafa Alttahir, Reece Jones & Dr Tom Wallis
Learning Outcomes:
- General Practitioners will learn how to examine signs and symptoms of common acute sporting injuries that present to a general practice or emergency department
- Explore the treatment options available for common ankle, knee, wrist/hand sports injuries.
- Understand which diagnostic tests should be ordered for common ankle, knee, wrist/hand sports injuries.

Dr Mustafa Alttahir – Orthopedic Surgeon Foot and Ankle
Dr Alttahir specialises in foot and ankle and complex limb reconstruction surgery. HE completed is orthopaedic training at liver pool hospital before doing 3 foot and ankle fellowships at Prince of Wales, Macquarie university and in Switzerland. He also completed his post fellowship training in Switzerland at Swiss Ortho Center in Basel. He has interests in total ankle replacement, foot reconstructive surgery, minimally invasive bunion / forefoot surgery using burrs, lower limb deformity correction, acute and gradual corrections, particularly acute distal femoral, high tibial, supramalleolar osteotomies, as well as Ilizarov frame-assisted corrections and limb lengthening surgery, using an intramedullary magnetic nail technique. He is also highly trained in designing custom 3D implants and models for patient specific surgeries.

Reece Jones – Hands Physiotherapy
Reece has a wealth of experience as a physiotherapist. Having finished his training and working with the orthopedic group at RNSH, joined WiSE in 2017 and has been running the WiSe fracture clinic over the past 7 years. Reece has further trained in hand therapy and recently became the lead physio for an international rugby union team.

Dr Tom Wallis – Emergency Physician
Dr Tom Wallis has a vast array of emergency medicine experience both in Australia and abroad. Tom completed much of his training in the NHS. After becoming a consultant, Tom spent 5 years doing retrieval within Australia. He also spent 3 years at the Children's Hospital in Westmead and also spent time at Royal North Shore Hospital ED before becoming director at Mona Vale. More recently Dr Wallis was the Covid Lead at Northern Beaches Hospital in Sydney and recently appointed as Medical Director at WiSE in 2023.

TOPIC: COVID IN 2024
Presented by Dr Clinton Colaco
Learning Outcomes:
- Explore the treatment of community acquired covid in 2024, what patterns are we seeing with Covid now?
- Understand when to use the Anti-viral medication for Covid and how to access Remdesivir
- Learn the concept of a "course" of antibiotics, including the potential implications of administering multiple courses and the value of strategic antibiotic selection to optimise treatment responses.
- Post discharge care in the GP setting for patients admitted under General medicine / infectious disease, do we ask too much of GPs after patient discharge?

Community Infectious Disease – Dr Clinton Colaco
Dr Clinton Colaco is an Infectious Diseases Physician in Sydney, with additional training in General and Acute Medicine. He has an interest in core and hospital-based infectious diseases. He currently works at Westmead Public and Hawkesbury District hospitals, and additionally consults at Westmead and Campbelltown Private hospitals. He also provides telemedicine consultations across Australia. HE has a special interest Core Infectious Diseases TB, HIV, sexually transmitted Infections, Viral hepatitis, Parasitic infections and Fevers of unclear cause.

TOPIC: UROLOGICAL EMERGENCIES
Presented by Dr Neil Joshi & Dr Pankaj Arora

- Early signs of urological emergencies, can we identify them prior to ED presentation
- Treatment and management of common urological emergencies in males and females
- New developments in female and male incontinence
- Minimally invasive treatments for BPH

Dr Neil Joshi – Urologist
Dr Joshi completed his MBBS with Honours at the University of Sydney. He has completed general surgical and advanced general surgical training at Westmead, Nepean and Blacktown hospitals, and at The Alfred in Melbourne. He has also trained as a Urological Surgeon in tertiary hospitals Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney and St Vincent’s and The Austin General Hospital in Melbourne, with further fellowship experience overseas in robotic surgery and uro-oncology at the Netherlands Cancer Institute in Amsterdam in 2008. He has also completed specific urological fellowships in renal tract stone and laser stone surgery both overseas and at Royal North Shore hospital, after completing general urological surgery training. He has also completed post-fellowship training in urologic prosthetic surgery in various centers the United States. All these centers have world-renowned experts in their various urological subspecialties. He has also presented multiple peer-reviewed research papers and published articles in major worldwide urological journals throughout his career.

Dr. Pankaj Arora
Dr. Pankaj Arora Experienced Board Member with a demonstrated history of working in the medical practice industry. Skilled in Clinical Research, Medical Education, Pediatrics, Medicine and Emergency Medicine. Strong business development professional with a FACEM. Unlike Emergency Departments that operate within public hospitals and some private hospitals, a WISE (Walk-in Specialist Emergency Clinic) is located in the community and designed to provide comprehensive, coordinated acute care – from initial consultation and diagnostic services, to treatment and specialist referral if required – without the patient having to visit a hospital.

Dr Samia Kazi (FRACP)
Dr Samia Kazi is a cardiologist doing a higher degree in research into premature coronary artery disease with Prof. James Chong and Prof. Clara Chow.
She completed her cardiology training at Westmead hospital which inspired her to become a topic of interest. She is trying to identify the mechanism of myocardial infarction in the young population as it has a significant impact on society.

Dr Stuart Watkins FACEM
Dr Stuart Watkins is an Emergency Physician at the Gold Coast University Hospital where he is the supervisor for the ED focused ultrasound program. Stuart is also a director of the WiSe Clinic Gold Coast. Stuart completed his training in NSW before moving to the gold coast where he is a staff specialist in emergency medicine at GCUH. He has a strong interest in point of care ultrasound to help expedite patient care in emergency departments.

Dr Kenneth Cho
is a consultant general cardiologist passionate about creating personalized treatment plans based on the latest clinical evidence. Dr Cho finds fulfillment in engaging patients in the review of their medical assessments and dedicates time to explaining their heart condition to foster a collaborative and informed healthcare experience. Dr Kenneth Cho completed his MBBS degree from Western Sydney University, followed by physician and cardiology. Dr Cho’s special interests include the investigation and prevention of heart disease, as well as the investigation and treatment of chest pain, palpitations, fainting and shortness of breath. Ken also treats patients in WiSE Macquarie Park Chest pain clinic.
